TREKKING
Vallecitos
Departure is to the west, though N7º national road, along the Precordillera. This road goes to the north between the Precordillera and the Cordillera Frontal and, when reaching Potrerillos, we turn to the west to enter the Cordillera Frontal. Road leaves
Potrerillos and
El Salto small valleys to continue as a ground road arriving to Vallecitos ski resort.
From there on, the trekking starts heading left along a gorge (there is another gorge to the right where the skiing courses are situated). The path borders a steam that comes from upper “veguitas”. This part of the trek takes aprox.1 hour and a half. With a spectacular view of the valley, we have lunch on the steams sides. If we are lucky, some “
guanacos” can be seen around and “
condors” flying up high. After lunch and, if passenger are willing to have a cup of tea, we take everything to prepare it. From there on, if passengers feel like hiking for an extra hour, we reach a plateau where the hole moraines can be seen. (glacier deposit that was responsible of the “U” formation valley).
In this trekking there are a lot to see and explain about the landscape (geological, zoological and historical aspects).

Maximum height reached by passengers: 3300 meters above sea level.
Duration of trek: 5-6 hours, including lunch.
Personal equipment required: comfortable warm pants, trekking shoes or sport shoes with a good base, warm socks, t-shirt, turtle neck shirt, wool sweater or warm fleece top, a good warm jacket, gloves, warm stocking cap, cap or hat, sun glasses and uv sunblock cream.
Arrival time back to hotel: 7 PM (approx.)
