MENDOZA´S WINE REGIONS
Mendoza is the nucleus of the Argentine wine industry. Although there are notable wine producing areas like
Salta in the North and
Patagonian Neuquen in the South, Mendoza province is the viticulture powerhouse with by far the biggest output and the longest history.
There are an estimated
800 wineries surrounding Mendoza City and their origins go right back to the beginning in 1561 when the city was founded by the Spaniards.
The province is broken into five different regions, each with its own unique ecology and terroirs.
