Familia Zuccardi, producing 18 million litres a year is one of Mendoza’s biggest producers. However, despite this large production they are at the forefront of varietal experimentation. They have a million dollar wine laboratory where near unheard of wines are being made. ‘We constantly seek expressions of the strangest varieties… we use our resources and vineyard like a huge botanic laboratory’ says agronomist engineer Eduardo Consoli. This winery is also one of the few to use a revolving stainless steel tank for the maceration of the red wines. This works by lying the tank down horizontally and then is rotated on huge wheels rather than the more traditional pump over method. This vineyard is very well set up to receive visitors and has a superb wine store and tasting area. The restaurant set out in the vines a short walk from the Bodega offers a great traditional argentine parilla (barbeque).
