FABRE MONTMAYOU
Fabre-Montmayou Owned by a French couple (Diane ad Herve Joyaux) now living here in Mendoza. Herve was born in Bordeaux , France and his family has traditionally been involved in wine. The winery was built in 1992 around the idea of a Boudreaux chateau. The original vines on the property were over 100 years old. Newly planted vines by the owners are now at least 15 years old. Their top wine, the Gran Vin (80-85% Malbec with the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) is aged for 18months in French oak barrels. They never produce more than 15,000 bottles and it is only made during the best years.
One of their wines recently won the
Malbec Trophy at the 2007 Argentinean wine awards for their Malbec Gran Reserva 2005
